I was chatting with a friend and fellow traveler of mine the other day after a grueling day in the trenches at work. The subject of our usual haunts down in Miami Beach came up as usual..... Ted's, The Room, Playwrights, going to the beach, eating lunch by the sea with a cold beer, smoking cigars on the balcony overlooking the ocean....
Immediately, it was decided that another excursion to the beaches and bars of our favorite vacation spot was a necessity.
Wow!!! What a change in attitude comes over you when suddenly you have a vacation lined up and you have something to look forward to!
The countdown clock has again been started! 58 days until I again set foot at the airport in Miami...... I can already feel the humidity as I step outside from the baggage claim area to the curb to catch a cab to Miami Beach. I can see the palm trees blowing in the breeze and feel the stress evaporate as the reality of being on vacation sets in.
Every part of a vacation, from beginning to end is a great experience. However, if you break down your vacation into little segments, I think that the moment when you walk into your nice, cool, comfortable hotel room and put your bags down has to be one of the best. Open up that sliding glass door to your patio and hear the ocean for the first time. Ahhhh...... Now, you really feel like you have arrived. This is what you have been waiting so long to be doing.
Get those khakis and Bass Weejuns off by god! It's time to relax!
